Canaries named Talking WoSo FA WNL Team of the Month for August.

Shaun Howes’ side have been named the Talking WoSo FA WNL Team of the Month for August following an excellent month for the Canaries.

Norwich City went into the opening game of the season with no fewer than seven new faces in the squad following a busy summer of recruitment – with Alice Parker, Rebecca Russell, Hope Armstrong, Naomi Cooper, Katie Knights, Olivia Cook, and Ceri Flye all penning deals for the 2022/23 season – and got off to a perfect start in the new campaign, beating Cambridge United 4-1, with the long-serving Natasha Snelling bagging a hat-trick to help the Canaries to move to the top of the table.

Since then, Howes’ side have proven to be no less impressive, picking up a win over a formidable Actonians side, followed by a comprehensive 7-0 victory against division newcomers Wymondham Town to take their record to three wins from three games with a 12-1 goal differential, including two clean sheets in their last two outings.

They also hold the distinction of being one of only two teams in the Women’s National League to retain their grip on the top spot throughout August.

It has been a near-perfect start to the season for City – one in stark contrast to last season when they picked up 8 points from their opening thirteen matches – and one worthy of recognition as the Norfolk side is named FAWNL Team of the Month for August.

There’s no overstating the importance of a good start in such a competitive division and Canaries have got off to a flier.
