East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League adds a fourth division ahead of new season, with the 2022/23 campaign set to commence on Sunday 4 September.

As the East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League (EMWRFL) prepares itself for its opening day this Sunday (4 September), they are delighted to announce that a third, Division One, has been added to the league structure for the new campaign.

Division One Central joins that of last seasons’ Division One North, and Division One South, as feeders into the long-running, Premier Division, last season lifted by Northampton Town Women; and with the league set to run with thirty-two teams.

Vastly experienced EMWRFL League Chairman, Christopher Roper, had the following to say ahead of the new campaign.

“As Chairman of the EMWRFL and as the new season quickly approaches, I am looking forward to welcoming our new teams who should bolster this league and make it stronger.

“The majority of those teams have been chosen by the FA, in order to allow them to enhance their club in an upwards movement of the Women’s national pyramid.

“As a league though, we have been pushing hard for three division one’s since 2019, and we finally got permission to do this, this year.

“This affords a number of positives such as club travel times being reduced, concentration of referees not travelling far to cover games, reduced fuel costs for away matches, and making it attractive for county league sides coming into our league.

“This has been something that was not very well supported in the past few seasons.”

In addition, Mr Roper wished all member clubs the best for the upcoming season, both on league duty, and in the many cup competitions, they will find themselves competing in.

He added: “It will be interesting to see who will push for promotion this coming season, and I wish all teams and players good luck.

“Last season was pretty close, promotion-wise, and this season will see the usual County Cups, FA Cup, League Cup and League Plate Finals being scheduled into the playing rosters.

“All I ask is that our clubs are mindful of keeping the league updated of any success in any cup competitions so we can then keep track with your fixtures.”

Fixtures, both league, and the first round of the EMWRFL League Cup, for the upcoming season, are now available on Full-Time.
