Jay Blackie and Chantelle Gallagher were standout performers during September as 29 FAWNL players earned multiple Opposition Player of the Match awards.

Blackie scooped Opposition Player of the Match awards in all three of Billericay’s fixtures during September as the Essex side maintained their unbeaten start to the season with wins against Stevenage, Harlow Town, and Cambridge City.

An impressive feat for the 31-year-old midfielder and one she will be looking to emulate going forward as Ricay battle it out for the FAWNL Division One South East crown this season.

Elsewhere, in FAWNL Division One Midlands, Chantelle Gallagher was equal Blackie’s achievements on the pitch as the Leek Town striker also bagged three Opposition Player of the Match accolades for her performances against Burton Albion, Boldmere St Michaels, and Newcastle United.

An accomplishment that will come as little surprise to teammate Cassie Hyde, who earlier this year told Midland WoSo:

“I have no doubt she [Chantelle Gallagher] will shine in the Women’s National League and on her day she could finish top scorer at this level.

“She’s such a rare talent and I cannot wait to see how she gets on this season.”
