Oxford City Women face Oxford United Women in the Oxfordshire County Cup this Sunday with a place in the final at stake.
In a repeat of last year’s final, it’s a case of home away from home for United who groundshare with hosts Oxford City, with U’s manager Liam Gilbert taking a less familiar position in the away dugout this Sunday.
Oxford City have played just once to reach the semi-final stage of the competition after receiving a first-round bye, Danielle Anderson bagging four goals in an emphatic 0-7 win over Headington in the quarter-finals to book their place in the final four.
The Hoops currently sit fourth in the SRWFL Premier Division with a record of 6 wins, 3 draws and 4 losses.
The visitors and current County Champions have been dominant in the competition so far, scoring eleven against North Leigh in the first round before putting a club record 32 goals past Launton en route to the semi-finals.
Brogan Moore is the competitions top scorer with eight goals to her name.
Oxford United, who will play for just the second time this year, are currently fifth in the FAWNL Southern Premier Division after twelve games.
Both sides are expected to field strong teams; City will need to be at their best to progress to the final against a team two tiers above them. While United, who will want to retain their title, will also view this as an opportunity to get some vital minutes in their players’ legs before returning to league action.

Played in blistering heat, a resolute, organised City side managed to resist the FAWNL Southern Premier outfit until the 67th minute when Ellie Noble tapped in Emily Allen’s cross to give United the lead.
The U’s would go on to add a second goal in the 80th minute to seal the win. Flo Fyfe on the score sheet with a well taken half-volley, Allen once again the provider.
